Programme Overview

The Simulation Toolkit is a comprehensive training programme designed for University staff to enhance their understanding and application of Simulation-Based Learning (SBL).  

The programme consists of four structured sessions, each focusing on key aspects of SBL. Each session will run between 2 to 4 hours, incorporating interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on practice. This programme aligns with the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) Standards to ensure best practices in simulation-based education. 

Certification

A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the programme (11 hrs CPD), with the option be enrolled onto the debriefing effectively programme for continued development. 

The expectation is for staff to attend all sessions.

• Overview of UK and international simulation standards and frameworks to inform practice 

• Ensuring alignment with curriculum learning outcomes 

• Assessment strategies in SBL 

• Ethical and legal considerations in simulation training 

• Quality assurance and best practices 

• Alignment with ASPiH Standards: Best practice in governance, integration with professional frameworks, and maintaining ethical integrity.

• All new staff (on appropriate courses using simulation strategies) 

• Academic staff involved in simulation-based teaching 

• Clinical educators / AL’s supporting SBL 

• Technicians supporting simulation activity 

• Any staff interested in integrating SBL into their teaching practice. 

• This programme aims to build confidence and competence in using simulation as a powerful learning tool, ensuring alignment with ASPiH Standards and UK higher education and professional standards.
